Odd

Just came back from a holiday

House was at 9n degs

Started my main comp and it crashed.

Tried my laptop and the same thing happened

Tried my Ipad which I had with me on my Visit to the US and it worked.

So think your Comp will not work if your
house is for a period of time near or less than 10 degs

What? you came home to find your house tilted by 9 degrees? or your house temperature was less than 10°C?

It is not at all clear. In winter it gets below 10°C but that has never affected my computer.

Re: Odd

My desk top PC does not like extremes of cold or heat - it slows down.

Re: Odd

I also returned from a 16-day holiday in China, late on Friday evening. Thermostat set at 10 degrees. Both computers worked fine............and used to excess to catch up on 16 days total China-block!

Almost all Western News or US websites: google; gmail; etc etc blocked by the Great Firewall of China! CNN news allowed on TV, but goes off-air 3 seconds after saying "Hong Kong". No idea why child porn can't be blocked - something about a free country perhaps? Can't say I like China, but don't see why we can't do a deal to send our extremists and pervs to be "adjusted" in their mind-bending camps!!

Re: Odd

Do the main computers have HDDs and not SSDs? If you came in and quickly warmed the house up, it could just be possible that condensation formed on the disks (or anywhere else inside the computer) since the air was warmed and the metal and other components would still be cold.

Even though the disks are enclosed, they still must have a small amount of air in them. The iPad is pretty much a sealed item with solid storage and so wouldn't get the problem.

Just a possibility.

Edit: This used to be a problem with installing video recorders in the winter. Take them into a warm house from a cold place and condensation would immediately form on the video head. They used to have a sensor for this but it was best not relied on. Better to wait a while.
