Rich Pensioners.

It seems like the government is casting it's combined eyes in the direction of pensioners to save money. On the news they mentioned the heating allowance and free TV licences as possible targets. It depends on what they consider as rich. With family allowances the cutting back starts with an income of £50,000. Anyone with an income at that level should manage quite comfortably without any freebies so that's OK.

If folks are well off - regardless of age, they should not get the money.
I saw a docu years back, where the well off spent the child allowance on 'goodies' - they said the didn't need the handout .....

I'm with you guys, I have wealthy family members who get heating allowance etc, they certainly don't need, don't think they'd notice if it disappeared!

Re: Rich Pensioners.

There is no doubt it, they have their eyes on the pensioners, in Tuesdays budget here they abolished the telephone allowance where pensioners on the state pension used to get 7 quid off their phone bill, also the over 70's had free health care, that is now capped at 500 euros a month, if you have more than that coming in you pay for your own health care.

Yes Twiz, I agree, and there are people, (no names mentioned - my brother, ha ha) who live half the year in the Canary Islands who still get help too!!

Re: Rich Pensioners.

My wife is from Belfast, Both of us are on the aged pension here in Australia.
The government ask her to apply to the British government, to see if she was entitled to a part U.K. Pension. She received a letter from the Brits Gov. telling her she was entitled to 13 pence a week.
She had declined the Pension as the paper work would cost 10 times as much!!!!

Wow! I know they say "Pennies make pounds", but at that rate it would take a long, long time.
