Shooting a moving subject is always going to create problems. In the above if not the plant moving then the insect is. Focus can also be tricky, do you focus for the insect or the plant?

A lot does depend on the camera used, in this case not just how good the photographer is, which is why I appreciated the photos above.

I could go more into the technical aspects but will leave that for others to consider and find out


I have and always will say if the person taking the photo is happy then it is a good photo. If others like it as well then it is a bonus.

What i would say it is interesting as to what took the photo camera/lens wise and any other settings

Anything too technical means nothing to the majority of members here.

Mags that is why I did not go into the technical side of the photo out of acknowledgement of the photograhers picture. Re focus is a common aspect of taking a photo and not technical. Who wants a blurry picture?
With respect I think you have missed the point of my comment about how hard this type of photo is to get

Such striking colours. Particularly like the middle one, looks like a mini plane just landing.

Photo's are good. I bet those butterflies weren't easy to photograph, I know I spend hours around our Buddleia trying to get them to stay long enough to take them.
