When I had various investigations no one mentioned the possibility of IBS.

No - if you have acid reflux - then it is not IBS
The after affects the same though, tender bruised feeling - oh dear, such is life ...........

They can't rule out IBS, Patsy. To diagnose IBS they rule out other possible causes and if none is found it is thought to be IBS. It's what's known as a diagnosis of exclusion - exclude all other causes first.

You can get reflux with IBS too. Either way, both IBS abd reflux can be pretty awful.
