Epsom salts - D'you bathe in it..... or drink it..

A lady I work with swears by it for bathing/cleansing, another for detox. Reading after googling I'm not sure it's safe

Has anyone here used it, I'd like to try it but would like to know more about it, I suppose, experiences, results, etc..

Hi

No, I do neither.

I use it solely for altering the water chemistry in my aquarium.

Margaret Hill's book is just amazing.
If you scroll down you'll see bathing in Epsom Salts is part of her 8-step guide to curing arthritis.

It's supposed to be very good for removing toxins and restoring inner balance. Bathing in it should deep cleanse pores - just fancy a cheap and cheerful spring clean.
If the fish are happy, it must be ok!

Oh Meg ...... try to think..

Re: Epsom salts - D'you bathe in it..... or drink it..

I bought some to try for various aches and pains. At the time the only supply I could find locally was at the pharmacy and it was quite expensive to chuck in the bath! I never got round to trying it, but did find a cheaper source. Our local country shop (Charlies) sells it in large bags for bathing horses so it must be some use!

It's good for drawing out things like splinters, Magnesium Sulphate Paste, you put a hot compress on the affected area, then apply a plaster with Mag Sulph Paste on it and HEY PRESTO! it draws whatever is in there out after a while!
Reminds me of a poem:
Mary had a wristlet watch, she swallowed it one day,
Now she's taking Epsom salts to pass the time away!

She changed her whole way of living though, didn't she, ruthio? I couldn't do that but I might risk one bath and see what happens. I've read it can dry sensitive skin but mine isn't so off to Boots tomorrow, I think. Arthritic joints might benefit, too.
