I haven't bothered subscribing to threads - if a thread has been added to, it goes bold anyway.
Same here.

I know where I've posted so not hard to find new activities on such the threads.

If I forget where I've posted I go to my own profile & it tells me my recent posts.
That's what I do Carol. I did have e-mail notifications, but it clogged my e-mail up (bad enough with all the adverts) and I turned it off. Now when I turn on/log in I go to "new posts" and run down the ones I am interested in. If I can't find anything, I go into my profile and and find "all posts by Aerolor". If nothing is added there then I take it there has been no reply or new posts.

Same here, all those e-mails constantly having to be checked is a real pain so I don't use that facility. More so when it's one of the more 'heated' threads with many posts, which I seldom post on but if I had then the e-mail inbox would probably overheat!

It used to be that once you entered a message in a thread you were automatically subscribed. I always presumed that option was there for threads either where you had previously unsubscribed or hadn't entered a message and where interested in the topic. Something has changed.

Having said that i might look in my settings to see if there is something I need to tick

Later:

Indeed there was the problem! My default subscription mode had changed to the first option: Do not subscribe instead of the second: No email notification!

Mystery solved
