Re: Emergency Vet

I took Bonnie back to the vet this evening. The swelling is still there and about the size of my palm, but it does seem to have gone down a bit, unless it is wishful thinking on my part. The Vet prescribed some more pain killer/anti-inflamatory and will aspirate and get it analysed on Wednesday if it hasn't gone. So still no answer as to what it is yet, but at least she is a lot brighter than last night.

Re: Emergency Vet

If the vet is comfortable leaving her a few more days then one would think they expect it to be a minor issue. I certainly hope so. Glad Bonnie is brighter and the swelling is going down.

It was me that wanted to give the anti-biotic more time to work Annie, so we mututally agreed to wait until Wednesday to aspirate it, unless things didn't continue to improve. The lump/swelling is the size of my palm and it has not got bigger since the first visit to the vet. I don't think she has pain now and she is definitely a lot better in herself than she was. If it was an injury I am at a total loss to know how she did it.

Re: Emergency Vet

She seems a bit better in herself today, thank you, Marian, but still quieter than she 'ought to be. She's been out down the fields and spent the morning in the garden with us, but she seems tired. I suppose I am looking for symptoms now and maybe imagining too much.

Re: Emergency Vet

I'm sorry to hear Bonnie isnt well at the moment. It's such a worry with dogs when they're ill isn't it. She's in good hands with the vet anyway. Thinking of you.

Re: Emergency Vet

I took Bonnie back to the vet on Wednesday and thankfully the swelling is about a quarter of the size it was, so the antibiotic is working. The vet is now more confident that it is some sort of infection which caused the lump and says to continue with the antibiotic and anti-inflamatory for another 7 days and then, hopefully she will be OK. I am so relieved - I wish the vet hadn't talked about lymphoma in the first place.
