Old cards.

What to do with old Christmas cards?

Do I just put them in the recycle bin or is there another use for them?

Re: Old cards.

I use the plain side of the cards for shopping lists..... that l usually forget to take with me. I then have to go round the shelves in the supermarket to try and prompt my memory into remembering what was on the list!!

Re: Old cards.

I used to drop mine off at my granddaughter's nursery but will just pop them into the blue bin this time around.

Re: Old cards.

I cut them up into 3 categories -

Plain white card for shopping lists

Straightforward printed, pictures, etc go into the recycling bin

Glitter and similar stuff go into household waste; apparently glitter upsets the recycling process

Re: Old cards.

Some of the Supermarkets used to have a huge post box for you to pop them into after Christmas. They may still do it, if you don't want to bin them.

Keep them so that I know who to send cards to next year.

Re: Old cards.

Last week I made the decision to start using my old cards from previous years.
I had a clean out of one of my cupboards and found hundreds of them in there.
I will look and see what I can save and start as early as possible preparing/making cards for next Christmas.
I have virtually stopped doing wood work these days because of the dust.
Its gonna be my new hobby, I have time on my hands to do this and I will shop around for envelopes and get the new plain coloured cards from various places.

So I'm gonna put away my saw's and scissors at the ready.

Re: Old cards.

Here's what I do with mine:-

1. Harvest what I can use to make this years cards.
2. Cut up some of the patterned ones to make gift tags.
3. Save some of the specially nice verses.
3. Use plain sides as scrap paper.
4. Use odd bits for testing coloured pens/pencils.

Anything left goes in the recycling bin.

Re: Old cards.

Plain cards are okay for recycle bin but as zuludog pointed out tinsel ones go into household waste.
