Re: Cochlear Implant
2nd tuning appointment yesterday - I've gone up quite a lot now because I found I got used to the settings very quickly.
Lots more frequencies and I'm hearing things differently because of that plus the volume increase - I've got one more level to go up by then back for the next tuning 25th of July.
I also do speech therapy and I've got access to the Advanced Bionics site for Implant User - more exercises and practice videos on there!
My own voice still sounds like I'm on Helium but everyone else sounds normal now, which is weird because I actually hear a robotic beeping - a bit like Morse Code but all on one level and my brain alters it to recognisable speech!
It does this as I'm doing whatever I'm doing and I start hearing different things all the time now, even very high frequency sounds.
I actually identified a tune yesterday, I'd listened to the radio - bit muffled yet but I'm getting there and today I was singing a little song and it sounded OK!
Everyone at works thinks I'm loopy because I keep suddenly hearing and recognising things that they all take for granted!
