Organ Donor Register

I've just seen the new campaign advert for the first time
It's good isn't it? And the premise is exactly right. Do you believe in donation i.e. would you take a donated organ for yourself or a loved one? OK - if the answer is yes ... are you on the donor register? If not, why not? (Assuming you don't have health problems to make your bits unusable)
Sounds reasonable to me ...

Sounds like a good campaign, I must admit that I don't carry a card though.

Same here Moetmum-I think I'll get a card and then don't seem to get round to it.

Re: Organ Donor Register

I think you can specify it on your drivers license now?

Think I will do that when mine needs to be renewed

Re: Organ Donor Register

I do have a donors card in my wallet ...but have often wondered, how old is too old to donate? My eyes are fine after cataract surgery, 20-20 vision, but would they be useable?
and elderly kidneys, heart, liver, etc?

Re: Organ Donor Register

I will give some thought to it when I renew my DL but I too wonder what would be good if I really live to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Seriesand I'm not going before that.

Re: Organ Donor Register

I do carry a donors card but my parts are well used and probably not of much use to anyone .

Re: Organ Donor Register

Of cause if needed I would take one for myself or family.

Would I donate, not sure, nor am I sure about donating a loved ones organ, at such a sad time.

Difficult one, and thats why we dont have enough... would I support compulsory donation...........absolutely not!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Organ Donor Register

Haven't seen the new campaign yet.

I have carried a card for years and it is noted on my drivers licence.

When my elderly aunt died aged 83 they asked if we would give permission for her corneas to be used. They also asked if they could take tissue??? As far as I am aware both her corneas were used.
