Used Car Prices.

Hi

Now is not the time to buy, prices have gone stupid after lockdown.

https://cardealermagazine.co.uk/publ...-frenzy/198414.

They will collapse in September when furlough ends and people are made redundant.

Anyone looking for a Bargain should look at Motorhog, Its an auction site that sells off vehicles that have been written off by the insurance companies.

Sounds bad, just look at panel damaged vehicles...which can get repaired.

Or repossessions.

Police seized vehicles.

You have to be careful with accident damaged cars, although it might look like minor panel damage, it could go much further as modern cars have crumple zones designed to deflect the force of an accident away from the occupants, so what seems like just small damage might reveal more as it’s stripped down, then if the airbags have deployed, and don’t forget today’s cars have multiple airbags, then that is even more expense, they’re not written off for no reason..

Re: Used Car Prices.

How odd! Here secondhand car prices collapsed in March and April and have not yet quite returned to pre-pandemic levels

Re: Used Car Prices.

The market is shot if you want to sell a used car, just done We Buy Any Car to have a nosey, the Wife's car is just coming up to two years old, 8000 miles and is about to have it's second service, the car new retailed at £27,800.00, two years on (with super low mileage and full service history, and unmarked) the offer was £13,500.00 that's a £14,300.00 loss in two years, needless to say it won't be sold at that valuation, I'd like to say we would run it into the ground first, but, at that annual millage, the car will probably outlive us.

Spitty, don't forget that, as soon as you drive out of the dealership, your car loses 20% of it's value before you've gone 10 yards down the road - that's the VAT you've just paid and will never get back.

I bought a 59 reg Fiat Panda 10 years ago on Gumtree for £4,500 with 8,700 miles on the clock. Now done 48,700 miles. No major repairs, just normal wear and tear. £30 a year road tax.

Re: Used Car Prices.

I have nothing to say here, as I don't drive or own a car, but curious as to why cars depreciate so quickly? And what does purpose does road tax serve, if its not to fix the roads? Genuine query - I know nothing about this kind of thing.
