Noisy headphones!!

Because of my failure to get a decent soundbar Tony & I have started watching/listening to none subtitled TV programmes and DVD's through headphones.

It's actually better than any sound bar - we can hear every word.

The problem is: Every now & again we get music & chatter coming through the headphones.

What causes this please & can it be stopped?

I wish there was a separate dial to lower the back ground music that often interferes or drowns out the voice over or actor.

I just want to point out they are not wireless headphones.

We connect to the TV with a long cable.

Sounds like it might be a problem with some other part of your system rather than the headphones. Do they work OK if plugged into something else?

Re: Noisy headphones!!

On advice from a friend elsewhere I've just ordered Noise Suppressor Cable Ferrite Core Filters.

Only cost a couple of pounds - they clip on the audio cable. A good & easy way to start trying to get rid of the noise...

Re: Noisy headphones!!

It could be radio interference Carol, so the ferrite filters are worth trying.

Yes it did sound a bit like a radio station.

More than likely - the extra-long headphone leads acting like the crystal sets of old and picking up radio.

Great analogy. Sounds very much like this kind of thing.
