Did anyone see the meteor over the UK ?

Lots of tweets about a meteor that came in over the UK tonight about midnight. Did anyone see it? It looked quite spectacular and there are jokes about us landing a rover on Mars last week and then this happens

There is a theory that meteorites and comets bring viruses to earth....Interesting. Wasn't there a comet last year?

Lots of people here saw it. I was so tired yesterday I went to bed soon after 9 pm.

What a shame I missed it I would definitely watched it if I had known about it.

Same here, Jazzi.

I'd have looked out for it if I'd known, but didn't know anything about it.

* Just found this reply to the question "When was the last time a Meteor hit Earth."

The last known impact of an object of 10 km (6 mi) or more in diameter was at the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago. The energy released by an impactor depends on diameter, density, velocity, and angle.
