Getting a Gardener

Hi

I have decided my garden needs doing after the winter and my effective lack of getting stuck in since falling ill last July.

Plenty advertise, however no qualifications and seem more interested in cutting lawns than actual gardening.

I have got a lady coming Thursday, a mature student who has had a change of career and who is in the third year of a horticultural qualification.

We will see how we get on.

Good luck with the new gardener, Swimmy. I have had two so far & neither were reliable. I need to find a better one.

Re: Getting a Gardener

Good gardeners are hard to find Swims, there is one good one around here that helps with a neighbour's plot, but Staffordshire is maybe just a tad to far to go...

Good luck with your search mate...

Re: Getting a Gardener

good luck Swimmy, I hope you find someone, a few of our neighbours had someone just cutting the grass, about 6 of us, and he did a good job, neat and tidy, he would come every 4 weeks, Then it got later and later, he was taking on more and more customers, I don't blame him for that, it was extra money for him, but we ended up cutting it ourselves, back to square one, none of us are really fit to do it now, the knees go ,have to take a lot of wee breaks when doing it..

Re: Getting a Gardener

Is it lots of work Swimmy? I usually do the gardening (tilling and planting) on my own but I have a Garden and Pool guy once a week to mow the lawn and do a proper cleanup of the pool. He really needs the money.

Re: Getting a Gardener

Hi

It did not used to be an issue, but with my recent run of ill health I cannot do any one the heavy stuff.

I am under strict instructions as to what I can and cannot do.

I am being sensible, for the first time in my life.

Re: Getting a Gardener

good luck swimmy, we have a gardener we have had for 15 years, started doing trees, then hedges twice a year, then a bit here and a bit there, now once a month for a full day doing the heavy stuff, he's also so handy can do anything
