I don't think you should choose a career in real estate either. If Honda thought it was worth that much they would have done it themselves.
I don't want I career in real estate I am retired, over my lifetime I have owned many investment properties (aided by tax incentives and negative gearing) and done very well out of them. How about you?

Ever heard of core business? Honda's core business is not real estate this was probably the best offer they received to take the whole of a very large parcel of land off their hands in one go. Perhaps you could offer an alternative to the figures I supplied instead of suggesting employment opportunities. DuckDuckGo is your friend.

There is nothing good about this story however much you try to spin the tale and make personal attacks to hide that fact, a major employer has left and an investment company has bought the land, they will produce very little, employ very few and make a very nice profit which will go overseas.

If you look at their European investment portfolio it appears to be centred in Poland perhaps they view the UK as a new Poland with rich pickings to be made?

I know you want Brexit to be a success and I hope that it is but stories like this are not good signs however much you may wish that they were. Only time will tell.

I've got 3 houses if that's what you mean ?

Honda were closing the plant for their reasons not brexit or any other but you seem to think leaving the land vacant and no investment is a better alternative. What companies do with their profits is up to them, the tax will be paid here and the jobs will be created here too.

Just remember this American companies profits have been spent in the UK.

Industrial land in the south of England is worth approximately £1882/sq m - this land is 370 acres

1882 x 4046 x 370 = £2817Million

Not bad for an investment of £700million even if my figures are 2018 values. No need to do anything with the land, no need to manufacture anything just break it up into smaller lots, sell it off and take the profit to the USA. That's what investment companies do especially with low interest rates they'll probably pay no tax either.

The vultures are circling.
Got to correct you there Bruce.

The Venturers are circling (with Capital)

Not really much of a good news story more a clutching at straws story because there are no details of what will happen to the site after it once again passes into foreign ownership. Is this what the Brexit Forum has become? How about some real news?

Haven't you realized that Honda have pulled out of the whole of Europe?
That's the fault of the EU's trade deal which will soon allow unlimited tariff-free imports of cars from Japan.

Tariff free? Perhaps you should look at your government's site for the published UK tariffs on cars.

Perhaps your time would be better-spent if you actually read the contents of these trade deals which instead you're making it obvious you have not.
What tariffs still exist will soon fall to zero under the terms of the agreement.

You are quite right. Under the terms of the EU japan you were part of, tariffs on cars from japan would be zero by 2026. The UK japan deal provides for zero tariffs on cars from japan by 2026. At your age that is soon. Eh, the benefit gained on the deal you had as a EU member is negliable.
