France has become the fourth country to record more than 10,000 deaths from coronavirus after Italy, Spain and the US.

Director general of health Jerome Salomon warned France has not yet reached the peak of the outbreak.

Europe's COVID vaccine fiasco continues.
Their choices are limited.

Benign?
Did you mean dominant?
If so that's why our government is funding the University of Oxford and it's what our VMIC has been set up for.
Vaccine variants to tackle such possibilities.

NO, l meant benign, the lessening or weakening of effect!!
It seems that all expectations are for the virus to get stronger. ??
WHY?
Surely it is possible that a virus can evolve the other way and
become weaker? Weak enough that it ensures it's survival by
being unobtrusive and non threatening to the human race??
In other words, live with us but not against us??
Why is this not possible is my question ??

Donkeyman.

PS. I apologise this is off topic !!

I think the virus will be weaker overall with the rollout of the vaccine. Good point DM.

I didn't quite mean that bread !
But the effect would be the same !
The only thing being different would be that the virus, quite by
chance happened to evolve it's self into a less viralent form entirely
by itself???
I just thought it would sod up all the plans Big Pharma are
making to get rich quick ??
Surely a virus can evolve in more than one way??

No problem but I'm not going to educate you upon what a virus is or how they evolve.
As a clue though I will tell you that the common cold is a virus, quite similar in many ways to Covid.
Influenza is a virus too and there are many others.
Colds haven't yet evolved to stop us suffering from their infection and neither has influenza.
Influenza still kills every year.
How long would you like to give these viruses to see if one day they adapt in the way you hope?

Viruses mutate constantly, making the resulting virus either too weak, which means your body's immune system has no problem in eradicating it. You won't feel anything.
Some virus steains are too strong, in that it kills the host so quick the virus hasn't got the chance to spread.
Those strains that infect you, grow in you and are able to spread to new hosts are the most advantageous for a parasitic species. They are the real trouble. The host getting sick is a side effect from the point of view of any virus.

You can compare it with more developed parasites, worms living in your intestines e.g. Children spread them, infecting and re-infecting one another. The host hardly has any problem and the parasite spreads and spreads.

I did answer you DM.
If you need more then you're in the wrong place; you need an educational establishment and not an internet forum.
If you can't understand these things that's not my fault.
