Reported in NFFO circular !!
UK / Norway. & EU are are have agreed catch limits a a meeting on the 16th of march ??
I couldn't get anymore details on this, but does this mean we are

Total allowable catch is determined by experts on marine biology. However, for british fishers the amount they catch is also determined by the amount they can sell. The post brexit paperwork causes massive amounts of fish to rot on the quays.

No because quotas are set until 2026 and beyond and they favour the EU fleet and not ours.

Aha, just got some more info on the agreement!
My understanding is that it applies to Norway, UK & EU boats
operating in JOINTLY CONTROLLED waters in the North sea ?
Does that mean that each party has its own area? Or does it mean
that each party has access to the whole area? in other words
status quo ? This makes a big differ ence lmo?
They have agreed to limit catches to scientifically determined
sustainable levels on six species at slightly lower than the
recommended limits to allow populations to recover !!
So some good signs, but more clarity needed on who actually
is in controll imo ??
Apparently this meeting is the first of the annual negotiations
Scheduled to take place for the next five years ??

It really isn't difficult to find out what it is and what in entails.
Oh and your date for the agreement is wrong too.

Hi

Completely irrelevant in regards to Brexit.

It changes nothing.

Agreed but it lets those desperate to talk about fishing have somewhere to talk about it without their constantly hijacking other Brexit threads.

Exactly my point Swimmy?
They agree to change nothing??
Except an alteration to some species limits!
Not very dynamic is it?

This sounds rather fishy.
And no, I'm not trying to be funny.

I'd be very surprised if we come away with anything more than Boris has left for us, having given away everything else.
