Let The War Begin
Since finding out that my diabetes was out of control I've vowed to do everything I can to get it back under control. I have insulin, syringes, alcohol wipes and plenty of blood sugar test strips coming in the mail. I'm counting my carbohydrates at each meal, keeping the total carbs to under 60. Today, I started using the free workout facilities at my apartment complex main center. That room is full of exercise equipment such as , stationary bicycles, stair step machines and treadmills. I was all alone using a treadmill for the first time. I've owned a treadmill years ago so I know the routine.
I started slow and gradually sped my pace until my heart rate had climbed for 78 to 120. When I get in better shape I'll pick up the pace until I reach a heart rate of 150. I walked the equivalent of 1/2 mile for this first workout. I was huffing pretty good because of the speed I chose to maintain.
I hope to go to 1 mile or more in the next week, keeping my heart rate at 120 or higher. That 1/2 hour trek today is just the beginning. I feel better already. Time for a nap. LOL
