Carol, may I also suggest you take those 'babies' off the mother plant too, and repot them in cactus compost.
It looks like you have several babies growing, so you can make more plants with those off -shoots.
They will over crowd the pot if you don't.

I would also take it out of the double pot too, else how can the water drain away?
Yes Mups, l used to propogate them by that method, but
it was very easy for me as they grew by themselves all
around us!

Here's three of mine.

And:

They all need repotting, especially the one on the right with all the off-shoots.

They look really healthy, Mups.

I know Aloe Vera has many uses, can I ask if you use the plants for anything specific?

Yes, I mostly keep mine for use on the wretched insect bites I get every summer,or for any occasional burns.
I've also used it on the dogs skin if they have a sore patch for any reason.

I drink Aloe juice every day too, but not from my own plants, I buy it ready made.

They are a great survivor. Mine go yellow during drought but spring back when the rain finally comes. No rotting roots here

Re: Can my Aloe be helped?

You made me feel guilty so the Aloe vera I have in a pot I have stuck in a bucket of water for a while to revive it.

The one in the front garden will revive when it rains - it has a constant battle with onion weed. (the post on the right is my letter box)

Re: Can my Aloe be helped?

Aww Bruce, I am going to report you for cruelty to Aloes.
I'm afraid I will also have to confiscate them immedeiately

I always think anything we plant in a pot/tub is at our mercy.
They are unable to spread their roots further afield to search for food and water, so we have to supply it for them.

Once they have used up all the nourishment in such a small area that's their lot unless we give them fresh new compost, food and water.

It's much like keeping an animal in a cage with the same dirty old bedding and no food, to me.

When you say onion weed Brucy, do you mean that small
flowering weed with thousands of baby onions offsetting from
the main plant?
If you do my heart bleeds for you! its a bastid to get rid of!
