I really cheered when he resigned before being sacked. Throughout his reign at the Treasury, this man didn't have a decent bone in his body when it came to helping those less fortunate than himself. He must have had padlocks on everything at the Treasury, because he certainly didn't spend anything on the deserving. If he had his way, he would have relished continuing to heap austerity on the masses for years to come, as long as his coffers were full. He was such a miser.

He is where he deserves to be, on the backbenches with his cronies such as Grieves and co. At least he is away from the pursestrings now. Money might hopefully flow to where it should do now he has been despatched to the wilderness.

'Begone, you old Bugga'.

Yep.

Hammond was and still is an epic failure. He has no problem sending billions a year into the EU Cohesion Fund to help people in the poorest EU countries (Greece, Portugal, Poland etc etc) but will not help those who are struggling here.

Boris mentioned the cohesion fund in his speech about the railways yesterday when he was in Manchester A dig at old Eyore if ever there was one.

In colluding with the Loonies, he's heading for the Job Centre at the next general election, and good riddance.

Why don't the Tories just withdraw the whip and kick him out just like they did with Hesteltine and Liebour did when they turfed out Chris Williamson? No great loss.

They would lose their majority. The Welsh bye election will reduce the tory majority to 1 I think

Re: Ex-Chancellor Phillip Hammond

Methinks Boris is scheming. If, as he has promised the people, he succeeds in taking us out of the EU on the 31st October 2019 without the scheming Hammond and co in the cabinet to cause mischief, then and only then will he call a General Election, knowing full well that every Leave voter in the COUNTRY will vote for the Conservative Party, giving him the majority he seeks. If he doesn't take us out however, the Tory party will be finished and will be in the wilderness for decades, while the main party sitting on those leather seats will be the Brexit Party.

If one will please excuse the crude phrase.

It's S..t or Bust time for the Tory Party. He has absolutely nothing as well as everything to lose.

I agree SG, it is the tories last shot, l still cant see how he
will get past the POSHOC roadblock though, so it looks
like a GE in the near future?

If Boris leaves on 31st October a General Election in November would wipe out labour, the greens, the lib dems and the Brexit Party.

I honestly doubt it.

I tend to agree, though it would restore the lost support for the Conservative party.

If, and I believe this to be the case, the percentage of leavers compared to that of remainers has actually increased beyond the levels seen in the referendum, and bearing in mind that the LimpDems, Labour, Greenies, etc. are all in favour of remaining, the Conservatives would gain a very healthy majority in the Commons at the next GE.

As for the Brexit Party, who I have supported for the past several years, once we have left the EU I suspect that Nigel will be happy that he has achieved his prime purpose and will step down from politics. He may decide to work in America, as he is a good friend of Trump, and possibly find himself appointed as our new ambassador there.
