Re: The Brexit Doom Continues.

Oh dear it seems that some people do not understand the rail industry

The new trains are part of the terms of the franchise and the leaving the EU or remaining has no impact on the procurement decision which are many years in the making

Hitachi were the winning bidder for the East Midlands line and the new Thameslink trains are Siemens 700’s

Bombardier in Derby missed out on both contracts so it’s good news for Durham and not so good for Derby. Alstom also missed out on this tender but have recently announced a new Hydrogen fuelled train in conjunction with Evershott for the UK market

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.d...ig-3153355.amp

So yes good news for Durham but just fake project doom news from those desperate to scrabble for any crumbs

Again you demonstrate your lack of knowledge and understanding.

Nothing wrong with foreign investment be it finance, technology, skills or resources

If anything it’s a certain element within the ranks of leavers who are against foreign ownership and investment in the UK

Abellio is the British registered company that is wholly Dutch national rail operator Nederlandse Spoorwegen that holds the TOC franchise for a few of the UK routes. They are investing in the Uk rail infrastructure

The train manufactures the TOC ‘s invariably buy their rolling stock from are:

Hitachi. - Japanese
Bombardier. - Canadian
Alstom. - French
Siemens. - German

The first three of these companies invest in manufacturing facilities in the UK to be competitive in the UK rail market
Siemens manufacture in Germany and are still competitive

Ultimately though it’s the taxpayers and passengers who are investing in the railway and jobs whilst also providing the profits for these companies which ultimately goes back to the parent companies abroad

Once again you demonstrate your lack of knowledge and understanding

When business starts paying for the railway from its own pocket the Government (taxpayer) ends up taking the franchise back in house as has happened on the East Coast main line three times now and also on other lines.

Also, the running and enhancement of the rail infrastructure comes under the DFT and is government (taxpayer) funded.

You have the EU to the problems with rail privatisation and John Major when only half of it was privatised.
