EU Poker . . A Desperate Germany Blinks First

Germany urges EU for Brexit deal with UK as they face recession

https://londonlovesbusiness.com/germ...ace-recession/

"The German chancellor Angela Merkel is urging EU negotiators to do a deal with the British prime minister as this will tie the UK more closely with Europe.

Merkel wants a future trading relationship with the UK, so it remains a “close partnership” after Brexit. Currently the UK is Germany’s largest exporter in Europe totalling £75bn in 2018."

"Johnson’s threat of a no-deal Brexit on the 31 October “do or die” is hanging over Germany. Europe’s largest economy are fearing recession as the gross domestic product (GDP) has contracted to 0.1% in the second quarter.

Marc Tenbieg at the German Mittelstand Association said to the Telegraph, “It is a tragedy for both sides of the Channel that a functioning and well-established market and trade structures have been jeopardised by poor political decision-making.”"

German economy contracted by 0.1%.
But so did britain's as was reported last week, by the double of that percentage. Just look up what the british chancelor said about it. I surmise the same goes for german economy.

No, much worse for Germany because they are doing absolutely nothing about it. They are behaving like Ostriches!

How do you figure that? The growth rate for germany is down to 0,4%, the expected growth rate for the UK is 0,0%.

Re: EU Poker . . A Desperate Germany Blinks First

This morning saw the publication of dire statistics for the German economy, which contracted this quarter with many voices now predicting that the struggling country is likely on course for recession. Now it’s not just the German Chancellor that’s looking shaky…

Unlike the UK’s contraction this quarter, the German one is based on much less sound fundamentals. Overall year on year, the German economy’s growth rate is just 0.4% compared to the UK’s 1.2%. The Chief Business Editor of respected German broadsheet Welt has said that Germany has become “the sick man of Europe”.

GDP has now fallen in two of the last four quarters in both Germany and Italy. The last thing European countries want right now is a disorderly No Deal exit for Britain from the EU…

Not looking good for Germany , time for Merkel to step in and tell that lot in Brussels to stop playing games.

What an irony if he has done his job so well he has helped to push Germany into recession.

Anybody with a modicum of sense should have seen this coming, it's up to the big manufacturers in Germany and elsewhere to put pressure on the EU and tell them to stop screwing around with the UK....

Is that how democracy in the UK works? Manufacturers put pressure on mp's to stop minimum wages etc?
