Re: Would you eat Bug cake?

Apparently locusts are becoming quite popular as a food source.

No thank you, I just couldn't eat a bug cake ..... just imagine if you came across a crunchy something or other when you took a bite!

It's enough to give me the shivers!

The average person eats unbeknown to them on average 675 bugs a year.

My stomach is my temple, I worship there three times daily, therefore I have a healthy respect for what I put into my mouth and bugs are not on my list of things I would consume.

Re: Would you eat Bug cake?

Yeah Id eat a slice ...I mean how many cakes do you eat where you have things like carrots / beetroot or dates and other ingredients which you dont realise ?
You cant even taste the ingredient..I imagine a bug cake to be quite "nutty" but I wouldnt expect you'd actually be able to tell you were eating individual bugs as such!

Give it a few years and id bet we will all be eating "bug cakes"

There are allowable amounts of foreign objects in many foodstuffs.

The odd rat dropping, mouse hair, insect leg or head is quite possible in your rice pudding or paella.

I have tried mopane worms myself.............didn't like them though.

Yes I think you are right Aysa before long bugs will be a major form of protein in our diet.... not in my lifetime though so I would politely decline.
