Families day, engine on test where we let the kids have a go on the throttle.RB199 Mk 104E. Based on the Tornado engine to power the EAP (Experimental Aircraft Programme,) then the Eurofighter Typhoon.
The pictures were taken through two layers of blast glass hence the poor quality.
Altitude engine test facility, USAF airbase in Tennessee. I'm front row kneeling, wearing blue overalls.
The engine was the F136, the Anglo-American alternative for the F35 Lightning 2, later cancelled by the Obama administration.
