logo.sys
Windows 95 had a file called
logo.sys in the Windows directory. This gave the Microsoft logo bitmap picture that was seen as the computer booted up. Being interested in the workings, I read that this picture could be changed for a different one.
The picture had to have the specified dimensions of 400 pixels high and 320 pixels wide. Once the bitmap was made it had to be renamed to
logo.sys and used to replace the original Microsoft file.
I made a picture of my own design in CorelDraw (version 4 I think) rather than use someone else's. I came across the image while taking a trip down memory lane. I thought being able to do this was the pinnacle of technical knowledge at the time. Memories ..memories.
