Sounds fruity!
Come to think of it you rarely see anyone on the soaps washing their hands, even in the cafes, pubs or vets! Did the people in the gents mentioned wash theirs?

Funny you should say that, I'm forever washing mine and always notice when people don't !

And no, it wasn't fruity - just charming, as films were then

Yes, this is worse than the teeth brushing.... but only just!! Also why do a couple of men choose to have a discussion whilst using the urinal, yuk!!! Does this really happen....seems to be turning up in films, detective series, oh all over the place! Not necessary we don't need that degree of realism!!!!

What gets me with people brushing their teeth on telly is they always spit in the basin and then just leave it there.
They never, ever turn the taps on to wash it away - aaghh.
The same as loads of times I see men shaving in the mirror on telly then instead of rinsing their face, they wipe all the shaving foam off on the towel . Don't they have running water in bathrooms on telly?

Golly, that takes me back. I used to adore Robert Mitchum when I was younger.

Re: Brushing teeth-- life imitating art or art imitating life?

I take umption from the fact that if you are over 65 years old you have
a glass at the side of your bed with your false teeth in. I have a clock
radio and a bottle of water as I need a drink in the middle of the night.
My teeth are still in the mouth where they stay permanently
I love my teeth that are fixed by nature and although they are not white
they do look real and are so.
I would say that looking back my Dad had to have his teeth out at 42
and my Mam went to the dentist. She was told she would have to get
8 fillings but because she was frightened of needles she decided to
have all her teeth out and she was 42 too.
I always remember this and decided that I would never do the same
so have some teeth at the back missing but my front teeth are fab and
could bite your finger off.
Don't know how Robert Mitcham came into the story but like all of
you he was a manly man and a great looker and great to watch on film.
He was in some lovely films and I liked him in River of No Return with Marilyn Monroe. I just loved that song by Frankie Laine.
