Geeky student Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon) falls for Christine, a rusty 1958 Plymouth Fury, and becomes obsessed with restoring the classic automobile to her former glory. As the car changes, so does Arnie, whose newfound confidence turns to arrogance behind the wheel of his exotic beauty. Arnie's girlfriend Leigh and best friend Dennis reach out to him, only to be met by a Fury like no other. Based on Stephen King's chilling novel.
A film of its' time. The special effects in 1983 were very impressive but look dated now.Cast, character and script should have had more attention paid to them. However, they are some excellent supporting "turns" from Harry Dean Stanton, Roberts Blossom and Robert Prosky. The real star, of course, is the car - despite looking like a "typical" 1950's American automobile, only 5,000 '58 Fury's were built, all in "Buckskin Beige" - the red-and-white custom paint job transformed an nondescript automobile into a stunner.

Like all Carpenter movies, this one has a great soundtrack, including, of course, George Thorogood and the Destroyers – "Bad to the Bone" .....

I've seen this a few times but it's one of those films that I can watch more than once and still enjoy it. I might well watch it again.

I read the book back in the 1980s. I read lots of Stephen King books around that time.

I watched it a few weeks ago, recorded it actually as it was on late. I love that car, she reminds me of my dads old Zypher that I learned to drive in, bench seats and column gears, fabby cars. Good film, loved when she went after those bullies one by one, keeps your interest.

SK Has written so many good books but so many don't make good films and

Christine was not one of the greats, watchable enjoyable but not a great film but the book was brilliant, some books don't transfer well to film adaption sadly.
