Where is Boris?

Hi

In the run up to the Election, he was all over the place, in particular in Flood Hit Areas.

Now he is nowhere to be seen and we getting the standard crap about how much they have spent.

Well it hasn't worked and the same places, in the North and Midlands are repeatedly getting flooded.

A complete lack of empathy.

He is not even in London, closeted away in a Country House normally used by the Chancellor.

He has announced that HS2 will go ahead at huge expense, but hundreds of thousands of people have been unable to get to work on time because of failings in the rail and road networks.

Homes and businesses have been destroyed, the economy is suffering because of the lack of basic , simple works.

The system is seriously flawed, there is no Integration.

In Shrewsbury the flood barriers worked, there was Government money for them.

The Town was flooded because the water backed up through the Sewers, for which there is no Government money.

It is a nonsense.

Ordinary, decent, hard working people are losing money and nobody worries.

Actually Swims I like that he is staying out of the limelight and just getting on with it. I don't think national politicians visiting flood areas is in the least bit helpful that should be left to local MPs to report back

Re: Where is Boris?

Swimmy, why on earth is it the fault of a man who's only been in power for ten minutes, that we have had two storms of biblical proportions back to back, and what use would Boris possibly be down there on the front line anyway, except for eating up the time of the emergency services?

Whilst I agree with you on HS2 wholeheartedly, I just wonder how much money you would want to spend on flood defences at the expense of something else? How much, I wonder, would you need to spend for no-one to get flooded under such conditions, and let's consider anyway that whatever defences we put around towns it will only divert the water elsewhere, such as the countryside and farmland which is just as important. The quantity of water will be just the same, just the distribution is altered.

Whilst I am sure there can't be anyone who doesn't empathise with the victims of these horrendous floods, it remains the case that we will never be able to protect low lying towns and riverside areas from flooding completely.

Take the example of Upton upon Severn, who have had millions spent on flood defences in recent years but are still expecting for them to be breached later today, or even further afield to Japan, who installed 6 metre tsunami defences only to be overcome by a 10 metre tsunami. You can throw as much money as you like at flood defences, but some responsibility surely has to lie with people who buy houses in low lying areas and flood plains? The areas at the side of rivers particularly have flooded for milennia, yet still people choose to live there so explain that one to me...

I agree Summer, a Councillor at Ross was being interviewed the morning and said the last thing they need at the moment is government ministers plodding about taking up the valuable time of those trying to organise things.

Also the flooding this time is so wide spread if anyone in any area misses out on a visit some will moan.

Once things have calmed down a bit that is the time for visits.

Naturally, the clowns that make up the Labour Party are trying to make political capital out of this and condemning Boris for not putting in a personal appearance. Even if he did, he'd be slagged off for not visiting all the areas affected or be seen to give priority to one area (Conservative councils?) over another.

BORIS Johnson and his estranged wife Marina Wheeler have agreed to a divorce settlement two years after they split.

The PM reached the agreement relating to the division of money at London's Central Family Court this morning

This is where He was....I wonder what Her cut is
