She is entitled to express a concern about how quickly things are being tackled. However, the older one becomes, the more one understands that some things take time and there is no point shouting "I want it now".

That chicken will take 90 minutes to cook, so there's no point whinging that it's not ready to eat 10 minutes after putting it in the oven. It's also not really going to change things by saying "but I'm hungry now". Plus, there's no point rattling on about why the chicken wasn't put in the oven an hour ago. Turning up the temperature of the oven won't help either.

What's done is done, what's cooking is cooking and it'll be ready when it's ready.

We have EVs now. In fact, they predate the IC engine.
But you make a good point about recharging them. If they go mainstream, the grid and distribution systems will need to be beefed up. Considerably.

Sure, we can time the charging to be at periods of low demand. That may suit some. Where will the energy come from?

Currently, over 50% is CCGT. And we are importing from France at about the maximum capacity of the cross channel inter connector.

Wind is doing about 9%.

Most certainly. But there wasn't significant economic need for anyone to change anything. Now, since the public are more aware and worried about it, the things they want to purchase and their insistence that we reduce the amount of waste and potentially unnecessary excesses is leading to a need to change. Hence it is happening.

It's pretty much all to do with economics. And economics, however one looks at it, reflects and responds to consumer habits/desires/needs.

Putting aside the contentious Cardiff Bay scheme for a moment, it seems amazing that tidal/wave energy doesn't seem to have been utilized quite so much. Why is that, do you think?

After all, we can pretty much predict tide times. Whereas wind, not quite so easy due to it's non deterministic nature!?!

So,why haven't those in charge,Muddy, done something sooner,...instead of Greta having to be the leader....I admire her strength..she has a long road ahead of her...but she comes across as being a very determined young lady...

You really think so?

Where will all the additional electricity come from?

France? Micron hates us and it would give him the greatest pleasure to 'turn the taps off'.

Nuclear power? I'm sure that's our best bet, but Greta the Gremlin might have something to say about that.

Windmills? Fine, as long as all the electric car owners are happy to charge up on a warm, windy day.

I could go on...

Perhaps I'm not one of them. I'm perfectly aware that the sky is about to fall down.
