High inflamatory markers.

I've been feeling generally unwell & not enjoying my food.

The doctor sent me for blood tests & the results revealed high inflammatory markers. This means there is inflamation somewhere in my body.

The doctor thinks it's inflammation to the lining of my stomach. I've got to go for more blood tests next week.

She said it was most likely caused by all the ibuprofen I've been taking for the trapped nerve in my neck.

So it seems painkillers have ruined my stomach lining.

Has this happened to anybody else?

Re: High inflamatory markers.

Sorry to hear that Carol.

The trouble is with those ESR and other inflamatory tests is, they show inflammation, but as you say, it doesn't say where.

I won't take Ibuprofen for more than a few days because I know they can do damage.
It might have helped if the Doc had given you some Omeprazole tummy protector to take first.
Failing that, it's like I said in the first place - go see a physio, or an acupuncturist, or a chiropractor.
At least they wouldn't mess your stomach up and chances are, you could have been better by now.

I hope you can get sorted, and feel on the mend soon.

Carol, just had a thought, but it might be rubbish.

I wonder if hte inflammatory marker was indicating inflammation in your poorly neck, and nothing to do with your stomach?

Do you know what made him think it might be your tummy?

Carol, if you levels are high you need to know what is causing it, as some problems can be quite serious!

Look at this web site...
high inflammatory markers nhs

If a blood test tell you that your levels are high then you need to spend time with your doctor to discover what the cause is & how you can reduce it.

here are some ideas that may help if the problem is from your stomach:-

Eight best home remedies for gastritis
Follow an anti-inflammatory diet. A diet to prevent gastritis should include broccoli and olive oil. ...
Take a garlic extract supplement. ...
Try probiotics. ...
Drink green tea with manuka honey. ...
Use essential oils. ...
Eat lighter meals. ...
Avoid smoking and overuse of painkillers. ...
Reduce stress.

Look after yourself & make sure your doctors give you the help you need!

I've developed a distaste for certain foods, have a feeling of heaviness & slight nausea in my midriff area and have lost my appetite.

Oh, I see. Just wondered if it could have been your nerve pain.

Hope you get some better news on your visit next week.
