Is EU requesting an extension??

From Von der Leyen's dialogue so far, it seems the EU wants a
further extension to brexit talks?
Might l suggest if this is so that they make a formal request for
one? And we will consider whether to grant them one?
Before we grant them this, they should work out a plan for settling
the fishing rights issue by setting out a schedule for the incremental
transfer of quota's and jurisdiction back to UK!
This to take place in a reasonably short time scale?
Imo, this issue has been kicked down the road for too long?

I understand your eagerness ST, but its no good just paying up
and shutting up if we dont get what we voted for at the end of it?
The sooner these questions are asked the sooner it will get sorted!
The fishing grounds are recognised as British intrnationally, so
why should'nt they come back under British jurisdiction when we
leave the CFP, it should be automatic?
For instance, what would happen if the french came over and
started to harvest our potatoes and then wanted to export them
back to us?
Does'nt make sense does it?

Nah, von der leyen is too pessimistic. She thinks till 31december 2020 is not enough time to conclude a trade deal. Of course it is plenty of time. We just give the british every cherry the british want to pick. That's what they expect. After all, they are the mighty brits, god's favourite people.

For heaven's sake - hasn't this dragged on - and on, and on - for long enough?

If we had anything resembling a decent government we would have been out within 6 months of the referendum in 2016!

Re: Is EU requesting an extension??

On day 1 of the negotiations, Von Der Leyen caves in and asks for an extension, showing just how incompetent the EU is at trade negotiations and how useless she is as a leader.

In February, Boris Johnson is scheduled to go to the USA to discuss trade with the USA, way ahead of the EU negotiations. That will put a shiver down the spine of the 27 and make Von Der Leyen an even bigger laughing stock.

In the meantime, UK farmers will have a field day supplying their own domestic market.

Von der keyen isn't negotiating, barnier is. Remember how he put a string of british negotiators in their place?

One of the reasons several countries are glad with britain's exit, is that the usa no longer can try to use the UK as a wriggling jemmy to enter the EU markets.

If only british consumers were willing or able to pay the prices your farmers need to get even. Their production costs are way too high.
