Re: Boris still on course!

Hi

Boris said yesterday we are not even thinking about Brexit at the moment or thinking of delaying it.

\there is no chance we will be leaving early as some want as we cannot afford to disrupt supply chains in the midst of Coronavirus.

Thw World Markets are having their own view on Brexit and the virus.

The £ is at a 35 year low against the US$ and in the last fortnight has sunk against the Euro, down to 1.06 today.

Hi

Nope, but leaving early would make them worse.

Funnily enough, it would have the opposite effect as countries in the EU are already ignoring the single market rules and other EU directives now.

Christina Lagarde now appears after this crisis started on January 25th, everyone else has a plan and a mechanism of delivering it in place. Lagarde is still "spinning the wheels" and getting nowhere, it's Merkel who's is trying to sideline her now because she has done nothing.

Hi

We cannot feed ourselves and rely heavily on the EU for foodstuffs.

Anything which slows down imports cannot be good.

With countries in lock down they are concentrating on feeding their own, which is quite understandable.

Swimmy, your panicking again.

We have enough food and drink in our country to last us - the problem is the morons who are panic buying everything and leaving shelves empty in the supermarkets. It's not imports thats the problem is idiots

Imports will still continue .... like they are everywhere else in the world.

Hi

I am not panicking at all, not in my nature

The facts are these.

Half the UK's food is imported: 30% comes from the EU, and another 11% comes from non-EU countries under the terms of trade deals negotiated by the EU.

This is from an official Parliamentary document.

You need to do your research.

More importantly we import an awful load of agricultural fertilizer and animal foodstuffs.

Optimism is fine, facts are reality.

Your statements are contrary to those of the Government.

Perhaps we should scrap all our experts and simply hand things over to you , JBR and Moscow as you have all the answers.

We could then have no problems at all and life would be much better for all of us.

Imports are not still continuing, they are diminishing as food production is being affected by the virus in other Countries.

It is also affecting production here.

An example, delivery of day old chicks is a specialist thing.

Our big chicken farms are suffering, only one delivery driver instead of 3 locally.

You will see that the big supermarkets have shut down fresh meat counters, there is a reason for this.

Life will change, it has too.

We have a shortage of Pasta and rice, not surprising, we do not grow it here.

Time to hand over to you, Moscow and JBR who can solve all our problems.

Most people recover from CV-19 within the 2 week self-isolation. After this, people have antibodies against further outbreaks and return to normal life quickly.

I've got it, my girlfriend has got it and so have a few of our friends. For all of us, it's a mild cold with a high temperature and a cough. As the virus passes through the country things will start getting back to normal, there will be shortages for sure as there is now with pasta but with a lot of stuff warehoused frozen there is still plenty to tide us over for a while. My friend who has a huge farm over here is busy lambing at the moment and he is in his 60's, still working

Plenty of water in the tap too and loads of fruit and veg in our supermarket. No toilet roll, cans of beans or beer though ... go figure.

I wish people would stop panicking, I really do. It's people who are stock-piling toilet roll that are a bigger problem than the coronavirus. If they weren't doing that we would be Ok.
