Re: New Bank Cards

Here's a good scam, have a dummy contactless card in your hand, and wave it over the Scanner, the Scanner will search for a donor card, so the next person in the queue will pay for the goods, I'm off to hit the Sales.

Re: New Bank Cards

I've used my new card several times without problems.. I can't see a problem with it.

Re: New Bank Cards

Did y'all know London buses won't take cash any more? Has to be some sort of card. A bank card with that little wifi icon on it (mine hasn't got one!) or an Oyster card.

Same in Sydney - and Big Brother knows exactly where you have been.

The system has only been in place about a year and tickets are still available but have to be purchased before you ride but you can get them at Post Offices, Newsagents, 7/11s and the like.

On the day in the pic I went out to dinner with my son and I notice he paid by credit card by waving it over the device. I still haven't used mine in that fashion and I wonder if there are times when I have missed that the machine does that because I automatically push the card into the slot.

Re: New Bank Cards

Usually if you look at the screen on the card reader it has the little contact less logo on the screen , the same logo that's on the cards...

Re: New Bank Cards

I very rarely carry cash and have had my debit card for years. However, I think I've had the contactless one for around a year now. There are few shops it can be used in unless they have the software at the tills, but I use it regularly.

I think they are safer to use because nobody can see you pinning in your number and the fact that they can only be used up to £20 of goods means that if somebody does nick it, they can spend no more than £20.

On the other hand, if somebody does steal it and attempts to use it on several occasions in different locations, your bank SHOULD stop it as my bank did when my ordinary debit card was cloned a few years ago. My bank was straight onto it. It was very inconvenient for me, but at least the $95 (yes dollars) didn't go through for an attempted purchase in America to a porn site in Mumbai!

That's the honest truth, I swear!

Re: New Bank Cards

Might be “belt-and-braces“, but I“ve put my contactless card in a metallic sleeve that screens it from unauthorised use while in your pocket. Cases have happened at check-out tills apparently where the wrong customer has been charged from a nearby card in a purse or wallet.
