Anyway, before Tabby complains (with good reason!!) about her thread being hijacked, I think she's got a point. There's no problem with having a single person looking after a few self service tills if it means a shop survives. However, the idea of having an absurd voice with weird americanism phrases does seem strange. Don't know about you, but I've never been inclined to download an app that would make my satnav speak in Arnie's Americanised-Austrian accent, and I don't see the need to impose that on customers as some kind of USP.
