Re: Hands Up! Who Likes Bakewell Tarts?

I feel so foolish and silly.
I am expecting a phone call tonight but I thought l would quickly make some more Bakewell Tarts.
I rolled out the pastry to make the base for each tart and put them in a patty tin. Then l reached into the fridge for the Raspberry jam and started spooning the jam into each pastry base.
Next thing, l can smell onions but l carry on spooning! Then it hits me! l look at the jar and it’s only, Provender Caramelised Red Onion Chutney. The jars are almost identical!

I really think l need a parent!

In truth, though, a savoury Bakewell might be quite nice! With cheese, for lunch! Did you continue with it after using the chutney, or did you scrape it off and hope no-one noticed?

It could be the next big thing, especially if you sell the recipe to Greggs!

Went out with a Bakewell Tart, didn't hang around when I found out she was in the Pudding Club.

Yes, l did scrape it off. This was the second batch of the mixture I had made two days before and kept in the fridge. I had filled three pastry bases with Caramelised Red Onion when l realised.
Last night, l did eat one of the tarts and l could sense a slight oniony tang. It did put me off a bit.
I have had another now with a cup of tea and that was fine.
