For me a cuppa with freshly brewed leaf tea always taste nicer, but which do you prefer ?

A Teabag or Leaf tea
We always use a teapot and add to it one 'ordinary' tea bag (I find that almost any propriety one will do) and one tea bag of a good quality Earl Grey.
Always use China cups or mugs and you will have a great cup of tea.

When I was a tea drinker, I used to prefer the taste when I used a bone china cup to drink out of

Does anyone know why you put the milk in the cup first?
I know like myself I put it in last as I like to adjust the colour.

I believe it's etiquette or PC to put the tea in first.
Don't think I ever did but that's probably cos I's ignorant innit

Adding milk last merely cools the tea, whereas adding the milk first and pouring boiling water on it (if a teabag) or hot tea from the pot means that the temperature of the tea stays reasonably hot.

Re: Leaf Tea or Teabag

In the early days of tea-drinking, cups were inclined to crack when hot tea was poured into them. Wedgwood china was the first to incorporate bone, hence the name bone china. In order to minimize the temperature difference which caused cracking, the British fell into the habit of pouring the milk first.

Point of interest As Europeans put milk in last, during WWII British spies acting undercover on the continent were specifically warned to pour the tea first in a cafe, to avoid being caught by the Nazis.

Correct. The hot tea would crack the pure China cups.
