Recipe for Stovies

Tin of corned beef,
Potatoes,
Two large onions.

Slice and cook the onions.

Boil the potatoes 'till soft, slice the corned beef then tip into potatoes, tip pre-cooked onions into the pan, add a knob of butter then add a small amount of milk to stop the mix from sticking, simmer gently for a few mins then beat the mix into a creamy constituency, cowp onto a plate and think of Scotland as you enjoy.

PS: I like HP brown sauce on the side.

Re: Recipe for Stovies

That sounds good Nero, our sort of food, easy and quick. The only thing is I don't get on with those tins of corned beef, I always end up cutting myself so I'll probably buy it loose in a packet. I'll let you know how I get on with it when I've made it, it wont be for a couple of days though.

Corned beef always makes me feel like I've eaten something I shouldn't have

I used to like it with mash and baked beans

Re: Recipe for Stovies

I love stovies - and agree, must have some HP with them.

Variation is to use link sausages cut up and some mince instead of the corned beef. Brown sauce obligatory with this version too

Re: Recipe for Stovies

Lots of variations on this dish, you can either slice the potatoes and not mash them, you can leave the corned beef chunky, and as Calismum said you can use different meats.
