Any car can be overloaded .....

Mine never is because I prefer the tight roadholding when we're only two-up .....

Here here Primus....Another example of the 'Save the planet' species taking the high moral ground, dictating how everybody should live their lives.....

But as a matter of fact:- I think all car adverts should be banned; They picture some smug get with a pretty girl on their arm driving like Max Verstappen on some winding country road while the car does everything but mash tea...And it's usually a Beamer or Audi......Just so 'Sackless!' and such a waste of space....

And just for the record; I drive a 2 litre diesel Qashqai, it's like sh$t off a shovel and can break the sound barrier, uphill, with four passengers and a shed load of luggage......And I don't give a monkeys how much fuel it uses because I'm helping to support the economy with my £200 road tax and 40 mpg.....

Yes I agree foxy, they always show open roads no traffic everyone smiling and happy, but we all know the reality of motoring today, traffic queues frayed tempers, far removed from ad land..

Banning ads for SUV's ? Not on your life ! Doing so, is the beginning of the "slippery slope" toward banning all ads for motor vehicles. All of us know full well that environmentalists can NEVER, WILL NEVER, be satisfied. Give them and inch, and they will take a mile.

The dictatorship of the ultra-leftists in action. I foresee the day when all internal combustion engines will be illegal.

Think that is an extreme view ? Look at what happened to tobacco smokers. 1st they banned tobacco ads on TV. Then they banned all tobacco ads everywhere. That did not work, so then they started banning smoking on planes. Then they banned smoking at the workplace. Then they banned smoking within 50 feet of a business entrance. Then they banned smoking in all bars. Then they banned smoking in public parks, even when there is no other person within sight. Then they started taxing tobacco to ridiculous heights. In California, there is a government sponsored program named , 'A tobacco free California'.

Resist dictatorship.

Re: Ban ads for polluting large cars, report says

Be careful what you wish for. The day is coming when airline tickets will be sold based on the WEIGHT of the passenger.

Speaking of weight, since obesity is a major cause of health problems, and obviously a greatly increased cost of health care, it stands to reason that obese people should be charged much, much more for high calorie foods: ice cream, cookies, sodas, butter, potato chips, in fact everything except fresh vegetables.

Why should the country, any country, bear the financial burden of people who can not, refuse to, lose weight and are morbidly obese?

Are you sure you want the government dictating what you can drive, what you can eat and/or how many children you can have ? China has a one child policy. Is your country next ? Do you really want to drive an electric golf cart and lose the freedom of traveling into the mountains ? Hmm??

This statement to rid the planet of internal combustion engines is extremely short sighted. A gas engine can be easily converted to burn hydrogen gas instead of petrol by a very simple adaption and the exhaust emissions are only non polluting water vapour; BUT, there are too many vested interests for this tried and tested method to become widespread.
