Chrome v Yahoo

Before going out for a walk this afternoon I closed down my W8.1 computer on which Chrome has always been my web browser.

On my return I start the computer and open what I've always used to open chrome to find wretched Yahoo offering a download of chrome. I followed the download instructions and got one page of chrome - enough to get my emails - but everything else is yahoo (which I hate!).

I also have a W10 laptop which I also started and that too had yahoo. This is the first time that yahoo has appeared on either computer and Chrome been totally unavailable without Chrome. WHY? What do I do to make Chrome my default browser?

All help appreciated as usual

Re: Chrome v Yahoo

I think you probably still have Chrome as your default browser but Yahoo has taken over your searches from Google.

Try this ...

Go to > Setting > Search Engines >

Search Engine used in address bar ... put Google.co.uk

Manage Search Engines ... ensure Google is Default

If you look at your list of

Default search engines

You'll see Yahoo there

Click the three dots next to it > click Remove From List
