Re: Gaza/ Israel

So you're saying that only Jews in Israel can disagree with their government's policies? Because I have already said that the Haredi do not.

Re: Gaza/ Israel

All Jews in Israel can and do disagree with their government policies .That is the beauty of a democracy .
there is freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
British Jews can if they want anyone can disapprove of anything from the UK.
Its not wise - if you are a Palestinian -to disagree with the Hamas or Fatah governments .
certainly not while you are living in those areas as you are at best beaten up until you change your mind at worse find yourself being thrown off a rooftop.

Re: Gaza/ Israel

Here's a rhetorical question for anyone .

What do you think Hamas would do if the positions were reversed ?
If they and not the Israelis had the upper hand.
do you think they would allow kids to throw rocks at them or young girls to slap their troops around the face ?
would they give the Israeli citizens equal rights, education a seat in parliament ?

Re: Gaza/ Israel

My take on this is maybe over simplified - but...

Israel are surrounded by countries who would love to wipe them from the face of the earth.
Palestine demonstrably does not want peace and is governed by an Islamic terrorist organisation.

Israel is in no position to fanny around. They have to take a very hard stance in the area imo and make it known they will take no nonsense.

Actually Fender, I don't disagree with any of that.
But it works both ways ... in ensuring their own survival. in their self-defence, Israel have become pretty aggressive themselves, sometimes to the degree of a superior force quashing it's opposition through military might rather than diplomacy and so can no longer be seen as an underdog or a victim. They have as much blood on their hands as their enemies do now.

And despite protestations of denial they have stolen land and become a law unto themselves ... thus making them as bad or good, depending on your point of view as the enemies they claim hate them.

Hamas would not exist.

No Annie's you have not answered the question because you know the answer all too well.

You are evading it because the true facts don't suit you .

Re: Gaza/ Israel

No you do not know the answer. The answer is that if Israel did not have the upper hand in the area because of US backing most of these terror organisations would not exist. Why is that so difficult to understand?
