AFAIK, the lockdown has not been lifted and those who have had a "double jab" seem "safe" - it is, apparently, the unvaccinated and the young who are at risk from the new variant .....

Infection rate ‘fivefold higher’ in under 25s than in over 65s

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/c...=4#post-465517

A leading professor has said cases of coronavirus are doubling, roughly, every 11 days in people aged 25 and under.

Professor Paul Elliot, chair of epidemiology and Imperial College London, told Sky News this evening he had been busy studying data since cases began rising again.

“We did find that the infection rate was much higher in younger people, those below the age of 25, and something like a fivefold higher rate of infection than the people over the age of 65,” he said, adding there were high rates of infection in very young children too.

“I think if we can dampen down the infection in the adult group, hopefully that will then feed through into the children as well, because clearly it’s a question of mixing between children and adults at home and then with their friends and when they go to school,” he told the broadcaster.

“So we really want to get the infection rates down in the young adults and the older adults up to the age of 50, the people who haven’t yet been fully vaccinated.”

Since the 17th May Pubs and restaurants are open again Omah, plus many more indoor venues and people are mingling. All the kids have returned to school and Universities which as you know are particularly susceptible to the spread of colds and flu etc. And there are bucket loads of travellers passing through the airports once again. I think at the moment it's only the elderly and vulnerable who are still taking lockdown (what's left of it) seriously.
The recent surge in infections was only to be expected in my opinion...

Lockdown has been eased not lifted:

https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-...gland-12225770

England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have all eased restrictions but none are completely out of lockdown yet.

Step three - since 17 May:
  1. Outdoors, most social contact rules have been lifted, but gatherings of more than 30 are illegal
  2. Indoors, the rule of six or a larger group of up to two households is allowed
  3. Indoor hospitality - pubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, bowling alleys, museums, galleries, concert halls, children play areas, hotels, B&Bs, indoor exercise classes - is allowed
  4. People can make a personal choice on whether to distance from friends and families - but should remain cautious
  5. Large indoor performances and sporting events with a capacity of 1,000 people are allowed
  6. Outdoor large performances and sporting events must have a maximum capacity of 4,000 people or must only be half full, whichever is lower
  7. Bigger sports stadiums are allowed 10,000 people or can only be a quarter full, whichever is lower
  8. Testing will be used to support these openings
  9. Weddings, wedding receptions, wakes, bar/bat mitzvahs and christenings are allowed with 30 people
  10. Funerals are allowed with as many people as a COVID-secure venue can accommodate with social distancing
  11. Care home residents can have up to five named visitors - two at a time - if visitors have tested negative
  12. Remaining university students to return to campus, with new home testing kits to be provided to increase testing uptake and help limit virus transmission
  13. Support groups and parent and child group gathering limits increased to 30 people (not including under 5s)
  14. Legal restriction or permitted reason requirement to travel internationally has been lifted - but traffic light system applies.
Nevertheless, easing has patently facilitated Delta variant viral transmission among the young and the unvaccinated, but only in specific areas of the country:

The North West has become the centre of the latest Covid surge in the UK, with a map revealing the top five hotspots in the region.

The map, developed by Public Health England, shows coronavirus infection rates across the country, with the worst-affected areas coloured dark blue and purple.
  • Blackburn with Darwen in Lancashire has the highest rate in the country, with 897 new cases up to June 10. This equates to 599.2 cases per 100,000 people - up from 548.4 the week before.
  • Meanwhile, neighbouring Ribble Valley comes second with 279 new infections and a case rate of 458.2. It is more than double the previous week when there were 221.7 new cases per 100,000 people.
  • Hyndburn, also in Lancashire, is the third worst hotspot with 333 new cases, meaning it has an infection rate of 410.9 - up from 264.1.
  • Rossendale claims fourth place with 267 new cases, equating to 375.5 per 100,000 people, while Burnley comes fifth with 326 fresh infections, meaning it has a case rate of 366.6.

So, the figures may well be worse in a couple of weeks .....
So what are you going to do with your life when tge figures fall which they will?

And are you shy of showing the figures about deaths from Covid}

And are you shy of posting hospital admissions from those infected with Covid?

Or do you prefer just posting bad news?

I'm seeing all the chaos from the Scottish football fans at the moment, and for all intents and purposes you would think there is nothing going on in the world. They will bring it back up here and our numbers will rise exponentially too, in a couple of weeks.
