All that was needed for peace in Syria was for the islamic invaders to have returned to their home countries and the Syrian "rebels" to have stopped the attacks against the legitimate and democratically elected government. Peace would have resulted in a matter of a few weeks.

Assad is the best of a VERY bad bunch in that region.
Assad is not standing firm against terrorists Todger, he is standing
firm for his own survival! How can more than 50% of his population,
Two thirds of whom are babies and women be terrorists??
They were only in opposition to him, but he enforced himself upon
them by any means at his disposal, and eventually they resorted to
demonstrations and then violence with the usual extremism we
get in these situations!
Imo a cruise missile onto the palace at an opportune time would
save a lot of suffering of the Syrians, but unfortunately Russia and
America are involved now so it looks like the refugees are going to
be sacrificed?

Refugees? No. Mostly terrorists and their families many of whom entered Syria from outside with the intent of turning Syria into another islamic horror.

Did you see millions ot people trekking across borders when your
so called influx of terrorists into Syria took place Todger, Where
is your media coverage of this siesmic event, l believe it never
happened on any large scale, but it happens to suit your anti islam
narrative! that is not to say there is no merit in that?

You fail to explain the sheer numbers involved in this tragedy?

What he says Muddy has been backed up by events!
It seeme clear that an attempt was made to starve and harass the
civillians instead of confronting the militias initially!

NO it has not.... Honestly, Donkeyman, you are so wrong. Most of the hospitals the terrorists refer to are not named ever ,apart from the Al Quds hospital and are hideouts containing ammunition and weaponry. They have numbers such as M10. most of which are field clinics .
The eye hospital that Assad had built, the best in the Middle East was taken by the terrorists, turned into a prison and an Jihadist school. Once they ran, they blew the hospital up.

++++++

As the members of the Doctor's Council in Aleppo said to me (Andrew Ashdown) in September 2016 when asked about reports that there were just a few doctors left in the city: "Firstly you must understand that there is a media war against Syria so you won't hear about what's happening in Government-controlled areas. Actually, there are 250 paediatricians currently active in Aleppo. The one that was killed (reported at the time as 'the last paediatrician in Aleppo) is not on any register as a doctor of this city. Nor is the 'Al Quds' hospital that was supposedly destroyed known in Aleppo at all. It was probably a field clinic set up by the terrorists. When they say that a 'hospital' has been targeted by the government, they are usually temporary field-clinics:; they are not registered clinics or hospitals. Today, there are 4260 doctors in Aleppo of which 3150 are active. Of these, about 1500 are specialists. Since the start of the conflict, 20 registered hospitals have been destroyed by the terrorists (these are not mentioned in western media). But there are still 6 active public hospitals and 40 small private hospitals in the city. At the moment, we have a huge shortage of medicines and equipment in both public and private hospitals including MRI machines. Our priorities are spare parts for equipment. Most of the aid given by the WHO and by the other agencies, and all the resources given by Saudi Arabia and Turkey goes to the terrorists, not to the citizens of the city."

Iraqi Kurdish leader estimated in November 2014 that ISIL's military had 200,000 fighters that was 6 yrs ago not including any others groups of terrorists , Turkish backed militants . They are all f-- ing animals ! Those who you see on the media this weekend trying to cross into Greece, I would make a guess that most of them do not look Syrian and are migrants from just about every Islamic nation under the sun.
What happened to the Syrian Christians.. do you know ? It wasn't Assad who slaughtered them and blew up their villages and churches . It wasn't Assad who burnt their crops, it wasn't Assad who took 6 elderly nuns as hostages.
Did you know that Erdogan has formed a Syrian National n Army ? Made up from all the jihadists groups and head choppers etc, shipped thousands across to Libya to fight there , many of whom have done a runner and made their way to Europe.
Here is the compilation of the groups he used. See if you can find who all these band of brothers belong to.
