Why?

Why is our CV19 death rate so much higher than Germany's?

Hi

Germany is a high tax economy and has far more acute hospital beds and staff than the UK has.

Re: Why?

The article answers part of your question Reality, I believe we probably have three times the amount of infected people that have not been tested, so the German method of testing is more efficient than ours. The best treatment in the world can not guarantee a patient will survive....

[The answer to why Germany's figure is so much better partly lies in the way the case fatality rate is calculated.
The figure is produced by dividing the number of deaths by the total number of confirmed cases.
This means if a country only tests seriously ill patients they will have a higher case fatality rate, as a higher proportion of these patients will die.]

Re: Why?

This is why it's so misleading to look at numbers alone, when the proportion is what tells a more complete picture.

MPs are particularly guilty of doing this in many areas.

Re: Why?

You only have to look back at recent history. The Germans in WW2 were more regimented to obey orders right or wrong. If their leader demands they obey the rules about containing this virus and staying indoors etc, you can bet your bottom dollar that is exactly what they will do.

With respect, their willingness to comply in the 1930/40's did have something to do with the threat/fear of vicious reprisals from the brownshirts/SS coupled with the sense of despondency created by the Versaille Treaty.

true but still allowed that situation occured from the WW1, stemming from Wilhelm II or William II was the last German Emperor (Kaiser) and King of Prussia. He reigned ... he left virtually all decision-making regarding military strategy and organisation of the war effort in the hands of the German General Staff..

By WW2 the German people where accustomed to obeying and even now that mentality existed to an extent

Re: Why?

Germanys death rate as a % is a lot lower because Germany is testing people a lot earlier in the infection. Basically, they are fudging the figures a bit when it comes to the ratio of people tested for CV-19 and those that die from it when it comes to the statistics.

Also, it appears that Germany is not performing post mortem CV-19 tests on people that die in quarantine / at home as they do not see post mortem tests a divisive factor and so are not included in the statistics.

Not for the first time either. Remember the VW emissions scandal.
