Lionel Bart.

Watching the documentary about songwriter Lionel Bart last night on BBC4 I was surprised to learn he had a great sense of humour, he was also over generous and gay, never knew that either. I had to laugh at what he said on the opening night of his great musical disaster "Twang", "I was as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs" What a clever and powerful way of expressing nervous tension.

They are very talented indeed in the music game, I think most Jewish kids start learning to master some musical instrument at an early age, my sister in law in London is Jewish and she plays the Violin, manys the time she made my brother and me weep, usually when we got home from the pub late.

Thats a good point - they mentioned that fact on a TV docu, all taught music at an early age - lucky them and it paid off .....

The film of his musical "Oliver" is a classic IMO.
