This one as turned out a surprise ,Wrongly labeled,the bud got rain damaged while it was forming as you can see from the outer petals,it was supposed to be a single flower head .
This one is not doing as well as the others,its finishe flowering now but the seed heads are spidery so still looks effective .its not putting on any growth though.
I've had quite a few clematis plants, they last 1 or 2 years then die and I've no idea why. I've decided not to bother any more.
They do like their roots kept cool, low planting around the base to shield or even some white stone and gravel to reflect the sun. Our best one is in a large stone trough
