I've been copying down the stats since the beginning of March, and for the last twelve weeks the average hospital death rate works out at an average of 721.. With yesterday's figures standing at 413....?????

I wish he was doing my accounting if he reckons that the average death rate is near a thousand per day....
You're right. I looked at worldometer (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/uk/) and from april 6 to present there were 14 days with over 750 deaths, but all well under 1,000.
With over 21,000 the UK is at fifth place, followed by belgium with 7,200 deaths.

I'm suspect of all countries figures...they all seem to use different criteria for collecting data.

Re: The "Missing" EU COVID-19 Figures

Hi
Now is not the time for blame.

Now is the time to learn from others who have got it better than us and get things right.

I can only repeat what I have said many times.

Do not blame Boris.

Yes he has made some mistakes, but nobody is perfect.

He was left in an impossible position by decisions made years before he became PM.

Re: The "Missing" EU COVID-19 Figures

This thread was nothing to do with blame or comparing COVID-19 death figures with the UK, it was about exposing the way the EU has kept quiet about the EU collective figures when on one hand it claims credit for GDP achievements, population figures, employment, growth etc, but when faced with a crisis, it keeps quite, hiding the reality of its performance as a united block, the solidarity in Europe, the Federation of member states etc.

I've exposed the truth (figures) behind the reality of COVID-19 in the EU and how the unelected elite are trying to keep their failure out of the public eye. How the member states were told to keep borders open, because closing them would be an admission of political failure of the single market rules and how saving lives was secondary. One by one, the member states abandoned their unelected mafia leaders and took it on themselves to bury the Schengen area bit by bit. Punishing Italy was their priority, as their health service was overwhelmed and doctors played God, making decisions who would live and who would die. As Spanish care workers ran from care homes, abandoning the most vulnerable, leaving them to die surrounded by corpses without food, a change of clothes or any of the basic necessities (so don't lecture me on human rights - there were none here).

In fact, if you want to see blame and punishment, look at how members states like Italy, France and Spain are being singled out - no unity there anymore and how Italy has been punished for threatening to abandon the Euro by the EU refusing to help financially and Germany refusing to provide PPE when it is most needed and lives could have been saved.

Thats the real truth here, not some jumped up swerve away from the issue to try and focus it instead on the UK and away from the failure of the EU. The EU by design, is to protect its people and champion solidarity, to govern by the same set of rules and improve lives across the board for all the member states regardless of their circumstances. The consolidated EU COVID-19 death rate figures I put up here prove just that, no matter which way you look at it.

You may wish to know that countries report the figures on deaths during a pandemic in the same standard, international way, which is to report on the number of deaths in hospital. It makes sure the figures are as accurate as can be for statistical analysis, with good data based on good lab results from a controlled environment. It also separates out the statistics from "died from COVID-19" and "dies with COVID-19" to provide more detailed understandings regarding patient outcomes.

One of the EU's first responses in this crisis was an apology from Ursula von der Leyen. Since then, little has been done, no leadership over the 27 or an EU pandemic plan for lock-down, unlocking and standards for social distancing, wearing of PPE by the public or even an EU daily update. In times of crisis, the unelected bureaucrats are impotent, dysfunctional and incompetent. They are merely spectators, watching with their thumbs up their arses waiting for this to be over, so they can snare the 27 further into political union to prevent them from abandoning the union making it impossible to leave.

This, is an utter shambles, where the socialist elites only response will be to re-write its history and pump it out through the EU propaganda machine, just like it always does. The EU elite have huge expense accounts, they have big pensions and salaries, chauffeur driven limousines and free travel. They won't want to give that up for anything, their lifestyles are far more important that the lives of the people they are supposed to represent, and as this thread shows, how the EU got to those COVID-19 death figures speak for themselves.

I can't see why that is important, each country of the EU gives figures if you are that interested or if you think it is important all you need to do is add them up.

Whether the EU gives them for its member countries as a whole seems neither here nor there and trying to make some point out of that seems totally obsessive.

What's the point of having a Union of Countries, if the the system has be run by the individual Countries?

Are you saying that the EU should just collect the money, set the laws, and let the individuals get on with doing as they wish?
