Why are we still paying into the EU and for how long?
Is it so that we have permission to trade with them under a FTA?
Is it so that EU fishermen can continue to plunder our fishing areas?
Shouldn't they be paying us for the privilege?
Is this a consequence of Traitor May's doings?
So many questions, and I'm sure I'm not the only one asking them.
Are there any real benefits of our paying up and being tied to this deal? If so, I'd really like to know what they are.

I have always said that we should have left completely with no ties and continued to trade under WTO rules.
The more I hear, the more I am convinced that I was right and that the 'deal' was sold to us as BREXIT whereas it is really BRINO.

Re: Thank God We are Out of the EU ...

Well, for starters, apparently we have a €10b bill to be paid over 40yrs for the EU's pension pot. (I read that in today's MSM too.)

Can I assume that this is only for the pensions for our ex-MEPs, or is it yet another underhand tactic the EU have used to drag even more money from us?

I assume that we cannot claim a refund for all the buildings and other infrastructure in the EU which we have paid for, and which they have kept.

All rather one-sided, isn't it.

Assume nothing.

Here's the official blurb.

Please note this from in there:

"The UK will share the financing of some EU liabilities as at the end of 2020, and any materialising contingent liabilities, and will receive back a share of some assets."

Predictably, the amounts we receive back are a fraction of what we must pay in.

A win-win for the EU then.

Boris must have been stupid to agree this 'deal'.

If, as some have suggested, Germany or France should leave the EU at some time in the future, you can be sure their payments, if any, would be far less than their profits.

I agree with you JBR, l was prepared to give it a chance to work, but
like you ,the more unfolds the worse it gets ??
l now believe Boris should use the cancellation clause that Barmier
so kindly inserted into the so called agreement and revert to WTO
rules as you say?
I never liked the 5yr delay before our fishermen get their rights and
now l am convinced they have been shat on again, and in five years
their will be FA left to catch at all !!
And we seem to be getting shyte from the EU customs etc over the rules, for imports and exports, l thought "THE DEAL" was supposed to
clear all those things up??
So, Boris, invoke the get out clause NOW before things go too far !

As I understand it, it's for our retired and recently ex-MEPs, Commissioners, admin staff, translators, and other hangers-on. It may include other EU staff, I don't know.

Thank you indeed.

"‘Operation Bleach’ to scrub EU from the statute book"

"Officials have been tasked with leafing through regulations and statutory instruments (SIs) covering the UK's 40 year membership of the EU so that Brexit is cemented in UK law and cannot be easily unwound by a future government."
