What a night!

Does anyone remember a nursery rhyme that we are probably not allowed to say any more - "Ten little Indians going out to dine, one went and choked himself then there were nine" ?

Well - today has been a bit like that that. We had a table for 10 people booked for Christmas dinner at our favourite restaurant.

Then - one of the men folk couldn't come because he had to go to Leeds for chemotherapy. 1 down - then there were nine.

One of the women went down with Norovirus - and her husband wouldn't come without her. 2 down - then there were seven.

One of the menfolk threw a last minute temper tantrum and refused to come. Another 1 down - then there were six!

In spite of all that - it was a fabulous evening - the food, the wine, the company and the excellent service all made it very special.

The manager gave us all a freebie liqueur - Bailey's for the women, and Limoncello for the men.

Never heard that nursery rhyme, but, a year or so ago, I nearly choked in Frankie and Bennys, it was one of those weird situations where you are in personal crisis but, no one else notices.

Here is the rhythm - God Bless Wiki!

Ten little Indians went out to dine;
One choked his little self and then there were nine.
Nine little Indians sat up very late;
One overslept himself and then there were eight.
Eight little Indians travelling in Devon;
One said he'd stay there and then there were seven.
Seven little Indians chopping up sticks;
One chopped himself in halves and then there were six.
Six little Indians playing with a hive;
A bumblebee stung one of them and then there were five.
Five little Indians going in for law;
One got in Chancery and then there were four.
Four little Indians going out to sea;
A red herring swallowed one and then there were three.
Three little Indians walking in the zoo;
A big bear hugged one and then there were two.
Two little Indians sitting in the sun;
One got all frizzled up and then there was one.
One little Indian left all alone;
He went and hanged himself and then there were none.
Agatha Christie wrote a novel based on this - when it was made into a film the title was changed to "Then there were none".

Am told that now we have to say Teddy Bears in place of Indians.

There's a link to the ten little on Wiki.

Glad you had a good time.
