And again he warns, don't waste this time! The present extension was granted to theresa may to ratify her deal. Instead you spent that time to chose another pm who now is trying to ratify that same deal.
I wonder what you will spoil this extension on?

A referendum doesn't now enter the equation neither does a confirmatory vote.
But how can labour give us an election Meg?
Maybe lm a bit thick but why would Corbyn give us what we
want even if he could do it??
Politicians are making and breaking promises every day so we
can place no credence in their statements imo??

DM I don't think Labour will and tonight they moved the goalposts again. They originally said when an extension was asked for and granted they would agree to an election now tonight Lavery has said they will agree to an election if no deal is taken off the table .
I think there is just about the required two-thirds majority for an election with the Tories/SDP/Lib Dems and the Labour MPs who are standing down.

First May threw away a perfectly good working majority and now in trying to "out Brexit" the Farage party BoJo has alienated another group of marginal Tory Remainer/Brexiteers to the point that Corbyn is now running the show.

If there is a general election it will be at a time of his choosing not BoJos. In the meantime having BoJo in charge of a impotent, zombie government could work in his favour.

I know several leave voters who are actually getting bored with the whole thing.

Re: Parliament agrees with deal????

Hi

Labour would be mad to vote for an Election with Corbyn in charge.

There is a logic to what happened today.

Boris has only just published his Withdrawal Bill, it is over 100 pages long.

It needs to be scrutinised so we do not get in a mess later.

It needs to be fireproof, if not we face long delays with lots of Court Cases.

It is 95% the same, but the 5% is important.

One of the big changes is a wording, it now refers to Acts, previously it referred to Statutes.

There are literally hundreds of Statutory Instruments which Government could now change unilaterally.

It takes power from Parliament and gives it to Government.

An important thing to avoid, especially if we get a Marxist Government.

In my case R1 not bored,' allthough that is the intention of all the
delays' but frustration!!
An early election is the only answer now as it is the ONLY way to
get rid of this bad batch of opportunist politicians presently
destroying democracy by using our so called democratic rules
to actually do it!!
We must vote them out, but a referendum cannot remove them,
they need punishing!!

Hi

Polls can be misleading, May went when she was ahead and lost out.

It would be a disaster if that happened now.

Lets get out and then have an election.

So far, Cummings has done an epic job of exposing the parliamentary quislings for what they really are. They are all branded under a single party centred around remain treatchery, denial and betrayal despite what their own party is called

Well done Dominic Cummings !

Even if the government proceeds to the committee stage with the bill it will almost certainly be held up by amendments from Remainer MPs. Those amendments if passed would require the Prime Minister to accept an extension and to return to Brussels to renegotiate the deal.

So Election here we come, if the polls are anything to go by the Tories will win a good majority. If they do , a vote of the existing deal or no deal could be put to the house and no deal could win.
Exactly Meg, it cost them nothing to get the second reading through when they already knew they need not vote for the time frame that would allow the second reading to proceed.

However, if BJ calls for a General Election in the event of the EU granting an extension until the end of January, (now there's a surprise!) what is Compo going to use as an excuse this time to refuse one for the third time?

He has already told millions of viewers that if an extension was granted, he would agree to a GE. so now, he has put himself in front of the car's headlights. What is he going to say to get himself out of one? His executive are fuming at him because they want a second referendum rather than a GE - because that way their jobs are not on the line.
To refuse one for the third time would be tantamount to having COWARD stamped on his forehead, plus the voters will surely wreak their fury on Labour candidates when an election finally comes to fruition.

I hope he has many sleepless nights. (Looks like his Shadow International Trade Sec. Barry Gardiner hasn't had many as the cameras caught him dozing off while Compo was making his speech last night).
