Poem??

I wrote this poem last night after a long discussion about HEALING. I have had PARKINSONS for the last 17 years & have been thinking about ways of healing.

There doesnt seem to be a place for poetry in here, so I have shoved it in here.




Do I want to be healed or stay just as I am?
Could it be part of Gods outcome He planned
I’m sure I really have lost my understanding
When folks say that I should be demanding

Yes claiming my own so personal victory
I cant seem to imagine a life illness free
I’ve become used to shuffling around
Casting my gaze down on the ground

I have wasted my life on things that pleased me
Steered clear of things requiring responsibility
Now I am past the point of commission
Gripped by this life of rank omission

I’ve had many years of having to lay low
I should have enquired more of the way to go
I might ask the almighty when my life’s at the end
“I made a mess of all that, can I try once again”

Nice poem RJ - I have a few myself locked away in a cupboard somewhere may give them a try. You of course raise some interesting questions and puzzles about this life and the 'God figure' [TGF]

some of us blame TGF for our ills and failings but there is a strong line of reasoning that if there is a TGF then he/she/it stands back and lets us get on with life with all its highs and lows. Must have a look at my 'Conversations with God' series which offers a few illuminations including the one " I did not write the Bible" [GF quote]

you also raise the puzzle of re-incarnation and my memory recalls the well known spiritualist Sylvia Browne who also offers some interesting insights into the 'life hereafter' and options of coming back or not.

My own simple take at the moment is that we live on a planet that is full of nasty bugs and diseases that some of us contract and others don't - we also have the options of living healthy or not which could involve moving from an 'unhealthy country' to a 'more healthy country"

I don't think that TGH contributes to any of these things - but I am prepared to be proven wrong!

OK off to find me poems and books. keep plugging away at it RJ - fight not flight!

Lovely poem Robert. Dont be down if you can as being cheerful is what
keeps you going as the old saying in Yorkshire says.
If you have missed out on doing things in the past see if you
can do them now or something similar, if not, try something new.
We all have limitations if we are ill or are getting older, I do hope
you find someway of reaching out. Look outwoods and not inwards .
Take care and hope things go smoothly for you.

Here's a little something that I once wrote that might connect?

We live our lives in turmoil;from the cradle to the grave
seeking out the thrills and highs
searching for the holy grail

we fear the body aging;hold it back with knife and cream
and when we see deaths smiling face; we shout a silent scream

we've grown so accustomed to believe no other way
that we have packed it all into three score and ten someway

but the middle way of buddha tulls us to slow our pace
stop a while and smell the flowers; this is not a one off race

work on your best foot forward; help others in distress
if you haven't finished all your stuff; you can start a new life's breath

don't treat it as a race with time; finish all the treats, spend your last dime
perfect each gift of giving first
the rest will follow - give it time
